PS Plus Games August 2022

It’s the end of the month, which means that not only do we know what PS Plus games to expect in August, but it is also your last chance to grab the PS Plus games for July. So, before we go into the PS Plus Games for August, just know that you have until August 2nd to grab Crash Bandicoot 4, Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan and Arcadegeddon.

So, what are the PS Plus games for August? With PS Plus, this month you will be able to get Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Little Nightmares. You can find some more details about these games below.

 

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 (PS4/PS5)

First up with the August PS Plus Games lineup is the remake of two of the most iconic skateboarding games. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2. This is a game I am sure many people will remember playing on the original PlayStations when they were younger. So, this is one that many players may be looking forward to getting their hands on. It’s also worth mentioning that it is the Cross-gen Digital Deluxe Edition that will be free for PS Plus subscribers, so that’s a nice extra.

This epic collection of classic games offers a completely rebuilt experience, including all the pro skaters, levels, and tricks that you remember (all remastered, of course). Along with many new skaters and options to enjoy. Not to mention the iconic soundtrack's return and several new tracks to enjoy. You have all the original game modes, including online multiplayer so that you can put your skills to the test.

Upon release, the remake received mixed and mostly average reviews. On Metacritic, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 (for PS5) received a Metascore of 90 and a user score of 7.2. The game was praised for being a successful remaster, with the gameplay being a strong point. Though some complaints arose around some broken mechanics.

On the PlayStation Store, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Cross-Gen Deluxe Bundle is worth £49.99 but will be free for PS Plus subscribers in August.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon (PS4/PS5)

Next on the list is the popular action RPG, Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Originally released in 2020, this game is available for both PS4 and PS5 players. And one that is worth picking up if you are a big fan of action RPGs or Japanese-themed games.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon puts you in the shoes of Ichiban Kasuga, a grunt of a yakuza family living in Tokyo. After being imprisoned for 18 years for a crime he did not commit, he is finally set free and must uncover the truth behind his family’s betrayal. This story takes place in a modern-day Japanese city setting, where you can engage in the story, or enjoy several minigames and side quests and stories that you uncover along the way.

Upon release, Yakuza: Like a Dragon received fairly positive reviews. The PS5 version of the game received a 86 Metascore and an 8.2 user score. With praises being made to the game’s story and character development, along with a fun combat system.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is priced at £54.99 on the PS Store, so you can save quite a bit with PS Plus once again this month.

Little Nightmares (PS4)

Little Nightmares is the third and final game to make its way into the line-up. A dark tale takes you through several disturbing environments packed with horrifying characters and secrets. Little Nightmares, though quite a short game, is one that certainly does not disappoint. Throwing you into a truly disturbing world where you get to witness some very horrifying events.

You play as Six, a small and mysterious vessel that is trying to survive in this dark world. Feeding on corrupted souls to keep going. As Six, you will explore many harsh and twisted environments and encounter many obstacles to overcome.

Little Nightmares received quite positive reviews online. With a 78 Metascore and 8.1 user score, most players praised the game for its dark atmosphere and locations, strong graphics, and entertaining puzzle platforming components. But what most players agreed on is that the game is quite short.

Little Nightmares is priced at £15.99 on the PlayStation Store but will be free for August.
